Parks and Beaches

Here are links and information about the various parks, beaches and facilities available here in Southampton. You'll find that each one has it's own special features. So, have fun exploring.

There are a number of bodies of water that line the Atlantic Ocean in Southampton. From west to east, the following is a listing of those bodies of water: Heady Creek, Taylor Creek, Halsey Neck Pond, Coopers Neck Pond, Agawam Lake, Old Town Pond, Wickapogue Pond, Phillips Pond, Jule Pond and Channel Pond. Also to the north are Big Fresh Pond and Little Fresh Pond.

Recreation Center

Olde Towne William Kent Dunwell Memorial Park - Olde Towne was the site of the first colonial settlement. In August of 1983, a 2.4 acre park was developed by the Village Board and was named to honor William Kent Dunwell, a village resident and benefactor. A boulder with several plaques was placed in the park in memory of Mr. Dunwell. In 1990, a time capsule was buried in the park to be unearthed and opened in 2040, the village's 400th anniversary.

Location : Adjacent to the Old Town Pond

To get there: From the corner of North Main Street and Job's Lane, head south on South Main Street. Make the second left onto Toylsome Lane. Head east 4 blocks to the intersection of Toylsome Lane and Old Town Road. The park is on the right corneer of Toylsome Lane and Old Town Road. Back to the top!


Soldiers & Sailors Monument - This monument was established in 1930 to honor the patriots who fought int the Colonial War, Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Mexican War and the Civil War. Also contained within this area is a time capsule placed by the Southampton Fire Department in September 1981 to be opened in 2081.

To get there: At the corner of North Main Street and Job's Lane, head west on Jobs Lane. As you head west about 1/4 of a mile, there will be a fork in the road on the left-hand side. In the triangle is the monument and flagpole.

Ruth Wales DuPont Preserve - This preserve is part of the Nature Conservancy and contains wooded paths in which to discover native plants and wildlife.

Location: At the end of Captain's Neck Lane Southampton, NY 11968

To get there: From the corner of North Main Street and Job's Lane, head south on South Main Street. Make a right onto Gin Lane.Go to the end of Gin Lane and make a left onto Meadow Lane. Head west and make a right at the second street, Halsey Neck Lane. Head north on Halsey Neck and make the second left onto Boysen Street. Head west on Boysen Street and make a left onto Captain's Neck Lane. Head south to the end of the Lane. The Preserve is on the left-hand side at the end of the Lane. Back to the top!


World War 1 & 2 Memorials at Agawam Park - Agawam Park is approximately 4.3 acres and contains a World War 1 Memorial which was constructed in 1923. In the 1950's, another memorial was dedicated to honor those who fought in World War II and the Korean War. There is also a playground in the park and Lake Agawam is situated behind the World War I Memorial.

To get there: From the corner of North Main Street and Jobs Lane, head west on Jobs Lane to the fork in the road which is Culver Street. The park is on the left-hand side.

Lola Prentice Memorial Park - This park, during 1777-1778, was the site of a British fort during the British occupation of Long Island during the Revolutionary War. Today the area is a shaded park that can be used by area residents.

To get there: From the corner of North Main Street and Jobs Lane, head west on Jobs Lane. Make the second right onto Windmill Lane. Head north on Windmill Lane. The park is on the left-hand side.
