Historical Museum - Southampton Historical Museum in the Rogers Mansion: The Southampton Historical Museum is housed in the Rogers Mansion. The mansion was originally built by Captain Albert Rogers in 1843 , a local whaling captain. The museum has a number of extensive exhibits of artifacts and documents. Additionally, there is a collection of other small buildings and shops. Location: 17 Meeting House Lane Southampton, NY 11968 Phone: 631-283-2494 To get there: From the corner of North Main Street and Job's Lane, head east on Meeting House Lane. The mansion is about 200 feet down the Lane on the left-hand side. To get there: From the corner of North Main Street and Job's Lane, head south on South Main Street. Make the second left onto Toylsome Lane. Head east 4 blocks to the intersection of Toylsome Lane and Old Town Road. The park is on the right corner of Toylsome Lane and Old Town Road. The Halsey Homestead - This structure has been identified as oldest frame house in New York State. It was built in 1648 by Thomas Halsey, one of the founding members of the town. The property was purchsed from the Shinnecock Indians in 1640. The home was purchased by the Southampton Colonial Society in 1959, after which time the structure was restored under the direction of Henry Francis duPont of the famous Winterthur Museum. The homestead contains a vast collection of colonial furniture and artifacts and also has beautiful grounds. The Silversmith Shop - Elias Pelletreau Silversmith Shop: Elias Pelletreau was a famous gold and silversmith and also fought in the Revolutionary War. His shop was opened around 1750 and the trade was carried on by both his son and grandson. Parrish Art Museum - The museum was designed by Grosvenor Atterbury in 1898 in the Italianate style at the request of Samuel Longstreth Parrish in order to house a number of art works that Parrish had acquired in Europe. Today, the museum offers a variety of cultural programs and American art exhibits and is recognized both nationally and internationally.
