Colleges

Suffolk County Community College: In February 1961, Suffolk County furnished a 130 acre site (formerly the Suffolk County Sanitorium) to Suffolk County Community College for their Ammerman Campus. Dr. Alfred M. Ammerman was the college's founding president and so the Selden Campus was named after him. Today, the College is a thriving 2-year college with and enrollment of 11,000 students on the Ammerman Campus.

To get there: From the intersection of Boyle Road and Middle Country Road, head east on Middle Country Road about 1/8th of a mile to College Road. Make a right turn onto College Road and head south. At the intersection of College Road and Mooney pond Road, make a right (this will still be College Road). Head southwest about 2 miles. Make a right turn into the main entrance of the Campus (on the north side of the street).

Middle Country Public Library Cultural Center: The newly built Cultural Center is part of the Middle Country Public Library. This location was created to house an interactive learning space for both children and their parents. The new facility is also used for other educational programs and board meetings. To get there: From the intersection of Boyle Road and Middle Country Road, head east on Middle Country Road about 2 1/2 miles. The Cultural Center is on the north side of Middle Country Road just before South Bicycle Path.
