Rail Road Station - In the Autumn of 1867, the South Shore line of the Long Island Rail Road was extended from Babylon to Patchogue, creating the Montauk Branch. The Bay Shore Rail Road Station was built in 1868 and was originally located at Third Avenue. The station was moved west in 1881 to Fourth Avenue to land that was donated by Selah Wicks. When the first train passed though Bay Shore from Babylon to Patchogue, the entire town showed up to welcome it. Today, the train may not get the same welcome but, it still takes travelers and commuters where they need to go.

To Get There: From Clinton Avenue and Montauk Highway(Main Street), make a left-hand turn onto Montauk Highway. Head east and make the 4th left turn onto Fourth Avenue. Continue north about 1/ 4 of a mile and make a left onto Union Boulevard. The train station is on the right. Back to the top!
