Aquebogue Introduction

Aquebogue, a quaint small town on the North Fork settled around 1758, is the doorway to Long Island's Wine Country. Aquebogue, an Indian phrase meaning "head of the bay" or "cove place" is situated east of Riverhead on the North side of Peconic Bay. The town is also known for it's numerous farm stands.

To get there: Take the Long Island Expressway east to the last exit, Exit 73. At the end of the exit ramp, make a right turn onto Route 58. Head east about 2 1/2 miles to the Riverhead traffic circle. (Route 58 turns into Route 25 (a.k.a Main Road). Continue east, going through the traffic circle for approximately another 3 miles to the intersection of Route 25 and Edgar Avenue. (You will see a public school on the corner of Rt.25 and Edgar Avenue.) This is the center of Aquebogue.
